AI providers

Connect the AI companies you choose.

CodeHero works with several AI companies at once. Connect one or more in the panel — click Providers in the header. Every project, and every ticket, can then use any connected provider.

Models on your own hardware

An OpenAI-compatible server on your network — LM Studio, for example — can serve models from your own hardware. The administrator sets it up in CodeHero’s configuration files; it then works like any other provider.

What hardware they need

Good to know

  • Subscriptions are per user: each user signs in with their own. API keys are provided by your organisation.
  • Each provider gives its models to CodeHero’s roles — Master, Senior and Junior Developer — in CodeHero’s configuration file (heroagent.conf).
  • By default a model of a different provider checks the work. With one provider connected, the check runs on the same provider and is recorded as a same-provider check.
Independent of any one AI company

Questions people ask

All the articles
Am I tied to one AI company?

No. CodeHero works with many AI companies at once and with models on your own hardware. You can change company or model at any time — the project, its rules and its history stay. Read the article

Why use AI subscriptions instead of paying per use?

Because in our own work at Smartnav, on individual subscriptions, we measured a subscription costing up to about 40 times less than paying per use for the same work — around 30 times in some weeks, around 40 in others, depending on the models. It is our own measurement, not a guaranteed saving. CodeHero runs the subscription AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build) as workers in the factory. Subscriptions are per user — each user signs in with their own; API keys are provided by your organisation. Read the article

Why do several AIs work on the same job?

Because one AI does not catch its own blind spots. In CodeHero one model builds and, by default, a model from a different company checks; problems go back for repair and are checked again. Read the article
